Publications

We believe in making our know-how widely available through practical guidance, fact sheets and reports. In this section you will find report summaries, together with opportunities to purchase the full document. Members who Logon can download all publications free of charge, or they can order printed copies at a reduced members' rate.
Several other membership organisations, such as the British Property Federation and British Retail Consortium have also produced relevant literature on BIDs that you might find useful. We have provided direct links to their websites on our links page.
Business Improvement Districts: A Good Practice Guide from the ATCM
The Good Practice Guide brings together three years of experience gathered from the action-based research of the National BID Pilot.
This Guide is designed to deliver practical information, ensuring all BID practitioners have ample resources at their fingertips. Based on grass roots experience from partnerships developing a BID from the initial concept, galvanising support through to 'going for the vote', this guide provides a wealth of information based on the many lessons learnt. The information will be useful not just to town and city centres, industrial estates and business parks, but to all business locations.
Structure of the Guide
Using a question and answer framework, the Guide provides information covering a range of topics, and at different levels of detail. Information on a general level is contained within factsheets; technical knowhow pages provide greater detail for practitioners; and checklists offer an excellent quick reference point on particular issues. Case studies explore how a particular place approached a particular issue, and ‘close up' sections offer specific illustrative examples of pilot experiences.
